Phototherapy

Phototherapy (also known as light treatment) takes advantage of the anti-inflammatory and anti-itch beneficial effects of ultraviolet light.

It is effective in the management of a range of skin conditions in particular when it is widespread, such as psoriasis, eczema and pruritus. There are two main types of ultraviolet (UV) light treatment used in Australia and are available in our centre: Narrow Band UVB (NBUVB) and UVA. A measured dose of the appropriate wavelength of light is delivered by specifically designed fluorescent tubes in special light cabinets.
